Gov. signs bill to protect workers

Thanks to the hard work of the Utility Labor Council and IBEW members from Local 1049 and around the state, the Utility Worker Assault bill has been signed into law by Governor Cuomo.  This bill will make it safer to be a utility worker by increase the punishment for assaulting someone who is just trying to do their job.  Below you can read a press release from the Governor as well as prominent elected officials, who were instrumental in getting the bill passed, and a statement from New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento.  Once again I would like to congratulate everyone who has spent years working hard to make it safer for our members to go to work.
