This Holiday season, as Business Manager of Local 1049 I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every IBEW Local 1049 member who have been so giving throughout the year either through your job or through community outreach projects at our Local or if you serve your community as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, Auxiliary Police Officer, food bank worker or any other endeavor that helps people in need. Your efforts throughout this year and every year in the past do not go unrecognized.
We can reflect on a year of hard work and dedication to our jobs as we have responded to storm restoration, gas emergencies, power plant overhauls and startups, and always doing business with consumers that can be difficult at times and not always appreciative of the hard work you do. But keep in mind we do provide an important service that provides security and warmth for our Long Island neighbors. Be proud of the work that you do and continue to pass this tradition of excellence down to the next generation of young Local 1049 members who are getting started on their career paths.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanuka or Kwanza, I'm aware that we all have our own special traditions and hope that this year finds you with time to spend with your loved ones, and keep in your thoughts our sisters and brothers who have to work during the holidays.
One of the nice things about the Holiday season is that while sometimes you can make people forget the past with a gift, we can always make people appreciate the present with just a little love. The New Year is knocking on the door and the old one is getting ready to say goodbye. Let's start the New Year with one positive thought and turn it into many positive ideas for 2015. So let's make the New Year count and reach a little closer to our dreams and goals. Happy New year to all.
As we thank God for His many blessings this Holiday, let us also pray for Peace on Earth. May peace be more than a season, may it be a way of life.
On behalf of the Officers, Executive Board, Business Staff and I, please accept my deepest wishes for you and your family to have a happy and loving Holiday Season. - Don Daley, Business Manager
