This Thanksgiving, let us all take pause for a moment to remember those of us that are continuing to work: Our emergency frontline workers who are ensuring that electricity and gas service are provided to our Long Island homes, so that everyone can have a safe family holiday together.
Additionally, we should take a moment to remember our police officers, fire fighters and emergency medical technicians that continue to keep us safe every day, including the 2 members of the NYPD that were shot in the line of duty yesterday. I know it is difficult for everyone during this COVID-19 pandemic to get together, but we will get through this together as we always have.
Our members at IBEW Local 1049 have a great deal to be thankful for, like having steady employment throughout the pandemic. Tens of thousands of people on Long Island, and millions nationwide, are unemployed.
Healthcare workers are seeing an increase in COVID cases coming into hospitals and teachers have done a great job keeping our children safe. Please keep those less fortunate than us in your thoughts and prayers around the limited Thanksgiving table.
From our Local 1049 family to you and your family, we wish you the happiest Thanksgiving holiday and we will see you soon.
