Leaving our union in capable hands

Message from Business Manager Don Daley

Dear Brothers and Sisters: On November 28, 2016, I announced to my staff that I will be retiring as of February 1, 2017. On December 1, 2016, with the support of my staff I recommended Ron Bauer to the Executive Board as my replacement. The Executive Board as per the IBEW Constitution unanimously appointed Senior Business Representative Ron Bauer to become Business Manager as of February 1, 2017. The Executive Board had the full support of the Officers, Staff and myself.

Ron is a 25 year member and has served the membership in a variety of leadership roles. He was the first 1049 Safety Advocate in 2007. He has also served as a Steward, Executive Board Member, Business Representative and currently as a Senior Business Representative. Ron has been involved in every aspect of running our Local from grievances and arbitration to contract negotiations. Ron's common sense approach towards issues has always led him to be the voice of reason. Most importantly, his character, values and work ethic will lead our Local to a very successful future.

As for me, this is the right time to say goodbye. I have been a 35 year member of one of the finest locals in the IBEW. I have had the privilege to serve the membership in a leadership role for the past 20 years, 9 years being a Business Manager. I want to thank you for the honor it has been. I have been richly rewarded for the opportunity to represent the fine men and women of Local 1049. I have also been supported by the finest Officers and Staff any labor leader could ask for. I have been truly blessed.

I hope that everyone has a Happy and Safe Holidays and enjoys their time with family and friends.
