A Holiday Message from Business Manager Don Daley, the Business Staff, Officers and Executive Board of IBEW 1049
As the 2012 Holiday Season approaches, and we take a moment to reflect on the events from the past year that have touched all of us, one can discover that we are indeed fortunate and prosperous. To be able to share this joyous holiday with family and friends is a truly blessed event that captivates both the young and the old. To our sisters and brothers of Local Union 1049, please accept our heartfelt Holiday wishes to you and your loved ones. And lest we forget, as we gather with our loved ones, please remember to say a prayer for those who lost so much after being ravaged by Hurricane Sandy.
The members of Local 1049 have always kept a commitment to community in our hearts. In fact, our mantra has been, "we power Long Island and empower our communities." That strong dedication was witnessed by millions on Long Island and the Rockaway's that were left in cold dark homes after Hurricane Sandy made landfall and we worked 24/7 to restore electric and gas service for our neighbors. Throughout it all, often with great personal sacrifice, our members did what was necessary to bring safety and warmth back to our community. Local 1049 members continue this commitment to our community with a Food Drive and Children's Toy Drive for the Holidays. Thanks to you, we have collected and donated over 350 toys and gift cards to children who have been affected by the hurricane.
Please let me close with this final thought, you have labored through the worst storm to have hit Long Island in our lifetime. But through it all the members of IBEW Local Union 1049 kept our standard as the best trained, most professional and highly committed to excellence. Our Long Island neighbors suffered, but even though our families suffered as well we stayed the course and did our jobs. On behalf of the Officers, Executive Board and Business Staff, please accept our heartfelt thank you for your commitment and I know that Local 1049 shall continue to lead the way into 2013.
