On Saturday, union members from across the country will be demonstrating in cities everywhere to protect our collective bargaining rights which are being challenged in the Janus v. AFSCME
Supreme Court case. This case will allow public sector workers to free ride and not pay union dues and will severely limit a union's ability to bargain for their members. This case is just the beginning of the larger war on organized labor. It will only be a matter of time before this case comes after our local's ability to effectively bargain on your behalf. On Saturday, unions from across the tri-state area will converge on New York City to hold a rally at Foley Square. IBEW 1049 will have a bus leaving from the Hicksville Yard at 8:15 AM on Saturday. If you have not yet RSVP'd to be on the bus, please call the union hall, (631) 234-1800
. Also please wear your IBEW 1049 apparel, if you don't have some you can buy them at the hall before 5 PM on Friday.
