Breast Cancer Ladies Night

On October 16th, Local Union 1049 hosted our 5th Breast Cancer Ladies Night at our new hall in Holtsville, where approx. 150 members, family and friends attended. This event started as a way for our Local Union 1049 ladies to have a good time and participate in a Union event with the intent to donate all proceeds to a Breast Cancer Organization.
This year we invited two organizations to the event, Kamp Hope and Mondays at Racine. Kamp Hope is a program for children and families impacted by a parents cancer and provides year round activities. Mondays at Racines is a salon that is working with other salons on Long Island to provide free services to anyone with cancer, such as hair and scalp treatments, skin, nail and foot care to massage therapies, among other services.
From the proceeds from the event, and a matching donation from PSEGLI - we were able raise over $9000 with each organization receiving $4500 from this event.

I want to thank our Local 1049 committee for working very hard on this event; Peggy Brady, Jen Clemente, Connie Fritzlo, Audra Derrick, Rosemary Soule and Anthony Scotto. As well as the many volunteers that assisted us that evening to help this be very successful. In addition, a special "thank you" to Business Manager, Donald Daley, our Officers, Executive Board and staff for the continued support. Looking forward to our next event! - Robin Rodriguez
