IBEW 1049's Chapter of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (E.W.M.C.) would like to say to our Brothers & Sisters a very long awaited "Hello & how are you doing?". Our Chapter has been subject to today's world of quarantines, social distancing, and Zoom meetings like you and we are left longing for the world of yesterday, where you didn't HAVE to wear a mask around your co-workers, and gloves were PPE for another reason entirely, and Purell was optional...not mandatory. 1049's EWMC chapter has prided ourselves over the last few years in working within our communities and volunteering of our time and resources to organizations in need. In today's world, it has become all too easy for us to box ourselves in our homes and burn images of Coronavirus/Covid-19 & Systemic Inequality/Protesting and the death and destruction attributed to both. Now, it feels like we're almost through the toughest of it, things seem to be getting better, people are becoming more aware, trying to stay safe, but what lay ahead is still unknown.
So, what our chapter, YOUR chapter of the EWMC is requesting you take away from this article is..."Be Good to Each Other" respect the Diversity each person brings to the table and acknowledge the things that make us different are the things that show we're the same inside. "Be Safe" be safe for yourself, for your family, for your brothers and sisters, working alongside you.
In closing, the EWMC gives our Love to the Brothers and Sisters who have had to deal with the death of a loved one, the postponement of a marriage, a vacation, a baptism. Anyone who has had to deal with a milestone of life in an entirely new and socially distant way, events missed and gone forever. May the rest of this year bring you and your families health and time together, may the hall and our Business Manager and Reps find a clear course through the tough days ahead, May God Bless America and God Bless Local Union 1049.
If you have any questions or are interested in joining, please reach out to Anthony Scotto (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Robin Rodriguez (email@example.com). Thank You & see you at one of our meetings. -Anthony Scotto, EWMC Chapter President
