The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1049 announces the appointment of Kasey Scheid to Political Director, a new position for the Union.
As the Political Director, Kasey will head up the Union’s Political Action Committee, working closely with congressional leaders on legislation benefiting union members employed by National Grid and PSEG Long Island. Her role will also entail handling community outreach for Local 1049, working hand in hand with area non-profits and communication organizations to support important Long Island issues and concerns.
“We are very pleased to bring Kasey on board as a valuable team member of Local 1049,” said Pat Guidice, Business Manager, IBEW Local 1049. “I have known and worked with Kasey for over 6 years while she was employed by National Grid. She is a dedicated Union member who passionately believes in the labor movement to help improve the lives of working families on Long Island.”
Prior to joining Local 1049, Kasey served as a Services Representative for National Grid in Brentwood, NY. She has been a member of IBEW Local 1049 for six years.
In additional to her role as Political Director, Kasey will hold the additional title of Press Secretary, acting as the press liaison to the Union. Kasey currently resides in West Islip, New York.
IBEW Local 1049 is one of the largest private sector labor unions on Long Island with over 4,200 members. As one of 767 IBEW local unions throughout the U.S. and Canada, Local 1049 functions as part of IBEW’s Third District which encompasses New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. The Union and its members play an integral role in supporting the Long Island community. Members include volunteer fire fighters, Little League and soccer coaches. They are working men and women who serve their fellow Long Islanders with pride, dedication and distinction.
Local 1049’s representational jurisdiction covers all utility work on the National Grid U.S. and Long Island Power Authority/ PSEG LI properties. It also represents members who perform electric transmission and distribution, construction and maintenance, line clearance tree trimming, gas line transmission, construction and maintenance, traffic control flagging, environmental restoration, wood pole restoration, grounds maintenance, right of way maintenance, power plant valve repair and replacement, electric generation turbine repair and tele-data.
